57. Singapore – Frankfurt – Hannover

Sunday, March 31: Cloud with some sun

Stopover in Singapore was too short for any meaningful activity but once we were back on the plane, I was seated next to another passenger to my right, a German woman living in Australia, and the two seats to the left of me were free, so I grabbed the F seat before takeoff, so that we both had a pair of seats to ourselves. After dinner and a couple of bottles of wine I managed to sleep for about five hours and after waking took in Hitchcock, and in Pulp Fiction was surprised to find Julia Sweeney with a speaking role. Then it was time for breakfast. Had had a couple of nosebleeds along the way, but they were survivable.

In Frankfurt pretty much on time it was cold. My suitcase had travelled first class and was on the other carousel, but at least it was out early and I made a run for it via the Sky Train (which itself is fast but there is a long walk in Terminal 1) and just missed the 7:02 (making it fifteen minutes from Terminal 1). My rucksack had decide to fall to bits on the very last stretch (left shoulder strap has now completely disintegrated).

Went back into town to the supermarket at the station to do some shopping – there is one at the station which is opened not only on Sundays but on public holidays as well, and I had prepared a shopping list for this eventuality. Flat needed a little airing and Shaoib had left some stuff behind that he was to pick up later, but mostly everything was in order, even if it was a different order than which I had left it. Unpacked some of my stuff out of their boxes and watched some telly before turning in for an early night.

Winter is not yet over.
