Epilogue: A Wicked Wee Time

Thanks to old friends Tom Bishop and Rayna Ramsay for organising some functions for me in Auckland; Hamish Spencer for getting the ball rolling in Dunedin and to new friends Shinichi Nakagawa, Jenny Rock, Katie Brockie for organising the three lectures in Dunedin (for Zoology, Skeptics in the Pub called the Church, and Science Communication) and to Michael Edmonds for organising the talk in Christchurch (Skeptics in the Pub, but their pub has fallen down, so it was Skeptics at CPIT, with the pub for pizza and beer afterwards). To all those who attended my talks and demonstrated that they could think: congratulations.

For me it was an honour and a pleasure to interview Jim Flynn (of the Flynn Effect), University of Otago, Dunedin, for Skeptic Magazine (since published in Skeptic, 19.1, 36-45).

Thanks to the people who put up with me for one or several nights: my Airbnb hosts Chinara (AKL), Matt (CHC), Tina with Tony and Courtney (IVC), Ben & Lucy (DUD) and Graham (CHC); all of the hostel operators at BBH that I stayed with; most of the motorcamp operators I stayed with; and the helpful DoC staff at the offices and huts that I visited.

For the friends that I made along the tracks and on the way: nice meeting you. Mike Bull and many others from the Auckland Guided Walkers meetup group on the Huia Bush Bash on Waitangi Day; Christine, Katrin, Julia, Andrew, Felix & Rebecca, Martin & Marlene, Lukas, Susann, and the Stewart Island girl from Osnabrück around Stewart Island; Patrick Simon & Simone, Trish, Robyn & Shirley, Will & Kelly along the Abel Tasman Track; Carmen from Hong Kong in Queenstown; the especial Yoya for an unforgettable day on the Kepler Track; Chris, Shandra & Alan, Julian 1, Julian 2, Ken and their wives, Mark, Alissa, Rowena Beaton and co, Chris, Lauren & boys, Andrea & Kobinian, and Franklin on a wonderful four days on the Milford Track; all the Canon users I met along the way and tried to persuade to use CHDK.

It was a Wicked Wee Time…

E noho raa!
